“To be nobody but yourself in a world that’s doing its best to make you somebody else, is to fight the hardest battle you are ever going to fight. Never stop fighting.” e.e. cummings

Everyday life can be hard enough and then add dealing with prejudice, coming out to one’s family, sorting out an “authentic” sense of self in the face of social expectations and pressures. Therapy can help manage the choices and emotions that are inevitable for most LGBTQ people.

Our counselors at the Life Center understand the pressures related to sexual orientation, gender identity, the formation of gender and the traumatic effects of oppression can lead to depression, suicide, anxiety, relationship difficulties and substance abuse.
